This immersion will uncover the tactics of professional storytelling across print, digital, experiential and social platforms. Our experts will share their tactics and best practices for finding stories, recounting them effectively and using stories to build an engaged community.

This immersion is approximately 4 hours and includes breakfast, networking, Introduction, 4 presentations by expert speakers, Q&As with each speaker and a follow up email with key takeaways from the day.

SPEAKERS

  • Minju Pak, Executive Managing Editor, T: The New York Times Style Magazine

    Minju’s work at The New York Times encompasses identifying and telling cutting edge and culturally relevant stories across digital, print and social. She has cultivated a keen eye for curating themes and editing for impact. Prior to The New York Times, Minju worked at The Wall Street Journal, The Hollywood Reporter and Departures Magazine. She holds an M.F.A. in creative writing from The New School.

  • Sam Ewen, SVP of Development, Fake Love

    Sam has spent his career challenging brands to create experiences and campaigns that bridge the gap between company and consumer with engagement at the core. As a creative, his ideas have garnered hundreds of millions of impressions, news stories beyond count and product trial and adoption without measure. Sam was previously the Executive Creative Director of Experiential at Clique Media Group and a founding partner fo Guild, an experiential agency. In addition, Sam teaches a course on media theory at Hunter College.

  • Eva Goicochea, Founder & CEO, Maude
    Eva spent her early career as a legislative aide in healthcare followed by over a decade in ecommerce, social media and brand strategy. She was formerly the Head of Social Media, Culture and Hiring at Everlane and Brand advisor to Steven Alan. In addition, she’s worked with Squarespace, adidas and Josie Maran Cosmetics. Eva is one of only 60 Latinx women to raise over $2 million of VC funding.

  • Veronica Gonzalez Peña, Founder, rockypoint Press

    Veronica is a writer and filmmaker with a collaborative artist/writer practice that encompasses prints, books, films and readings. Her most recent film Pat Steir: Artist is an intimate documentary on a groundbreaking artist, which premiered at Lincoln Center in 2019. Her first novel, twin time: or how death befell me, was published by semiotext(e) and was awarded the 2008 Aztlan Literary Prize. Lynne Tillman calls her second novel, The Sad Passions, “honest and riveting,” and Francisco Goldman hailed it “a beautiful and moving choral tale of isolation, love, damage and intimate struggles.” Her book, So Far From God, on the Mexican Drug War was included in semiotext(e)’s exhibition at the 2014 Whitney Biennial. Veronica holds an M.F.A. in creative writing from NYU and teaches in the M.F.A. of Americas program.

In order to facilitate networking and allow you to engage with the speakers through Q&A and with each other, this event will be much smaller and more intimate than our main stage Bitten programs. We encourage you to come ready to absorb, ask questions, learn and meet other interesting people in the Bitten community.

This Bitten Immersion is designed for strategists, creatives and marketing and communications folks across agencies and in-house at brands. Storytelling is an important component of every job and while this immersion focuses on how brands (and agencies on behalf of their brands) can tell effective stories that garner engaged communities, storytelling is relevant for everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned expert or a novice, this workshop will teach you something new and get you excited and inspired to head back to work and apply the learnings.
